When We Truly Meet Jesus
Luke chapter 5 Worship Song
Luke chapter 5 Worship Song
When We Truly Meet You is inspired by Luke chapter 5 — a chapter filled with life-changing encounters. Peter fell to his knees after a night of failure turned into overflowing grace. A paralyzed man was lowered through a roof and walked away forgiven and healed. Levi left his tax table the moment he heard the call, “Follow Me.”
Each of them discovered the same truth: when someone truly meets Jesus, life is never the same again.
This song moves from their stories to ours. We may not stand by the Sea of Galilee, and we may not sit at a tax booth, but we carry the same fears, shame, and longing. And the same Jesus still speaks, still forgives, still heals, and still calls.
Set in a gentle 6/8 Celtic acoustic style with flute, fiddle, and earthy warmth, the song feels both ancient and present — a reminder that these encounters are not just history. They are happening now.
May this song lead you beyond hearing about Him…
into truly meeting Him.
This song is inspired primarily by Luke 5, where we see several powerful encounters with Jesus.
“Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”
When Jesus saw their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
“But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”
So He said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”
Jesus saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow Me,” Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything and followed Him.
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

That night Peter cast his nets
Till the breaking of the dawn
An empty boat upon the shore
All his strength was gone
You said, “Go deeper, cast again,”
One word across the sea
And grace began to overflow
In waves of mercy
He fell before Your holy light,
“Lord, I am a sinful man.”
But You said, “Do not be afraid —
From now on, follow My plan.”
When a heart beholds Your glory
It sees how lost it’s been.
When someone truly meets You, Jesus,
Nothing stays the same.
Sins forgiven, hearts awakened,
Set on holy flame.
You have power to heal the broken,
You have strength to break the chains.
When we truly meet You, Jesus,
Old things fade away.
Darkness lifts, the morning rises —
Everything is changed.
They tore the roof to bring him near,
Lowered him down in faith.
Before he walked, You spoke these words:
“Child, your sins erased.”
The crowd began to question You,
But You said, “Rise and stand,”
So all would know the Son of Man
Holds mercy in His hand.
By the tax booth sat a man
No one dared to see.
You looked at him and simply said,
“Come and follow Me.”
He rose at once and left it all,
His past upon the floor —
One moment in Your presence
And he was bound no more.
When someone truly meets You, Jesus,
Nothing stays the same…
Today we stand upon the shore,
Our nets are empty still.
We hide our shame in silent rooms,
We bend beneath our will.
We may not be like Peter,
Yet we need Your grace the same.
We may not sit like Levi,
Yet we’re waiting for Your name.
Lord, when You look upon us,
Do You still say, “Don’t fear”?
When You whisper out our name,
Are we ready to draw near?
Let us drop our old nets,
Let us rise and walk.
Let us leave the counting table,
Let us trust Your call.
When we truly meet You, Jesus,
This is not a tale of old.
You still forgive, You still are healing,
You still call our souls.
When we truly meet You, Jesus,
Hearts no longer hide.
Those who truly meet You
Walk in brand new life.
Lord, let me be that person —
The one who truly meets You.
Heavenly Father, as we finish singing, our hearts are still moved by these encounters. Peter fell before You. The paralyzed man rose and walked. Levi stood up and left everything behind. We see their stories, and somehow we see ourselves.
Lord, we confess that we often stand on the shore with empty nets. We carry hidden shame. We sit in places we know we should leave. Yet You still speak. You still forgive. You still say, “Do not be afraid.” Thank You that Your mercy is not only for the people in Scripture, but for us today.
Jesus, if You are calling our name, help us to respond. Give us courage to drop our old nets, to rise from what has held us down, to walk in the new direction You are giving. Let our encounter with You be real — not just words, not just music, but a turning point.
Shine Your light into the places we hide. Heal what is broken. Free what is bound. And make us people whose lives show that we have truly met You.
From this day forward, lead us in Your way.
In Your holy name we pray,
Amen.
