“Going Home” is a Christian worship song about heaven, eternal hope, and the comfort of Jesus’ promise. It speaks to the tender moment when a believer looks back on a life filled with memories, joy, tears, and grace, while also looking forward to the home prepared by the Lord.
The song was written especially for those facing sickness, aging, grief, or the final season of life, and for families walking beside someone they love. Its message is not despair, but hope: in Christ, the road ahead is not darkness. It is the way home. Jesus has promised to prepare a place for His people, to receive them into His presence, and to wipe away every tear.
Through the image of a child running into the arms of Jesus, “Going Home” reminds us that death cannot steal the believer’s hope. The earthly journey may come to an end, but the love of Christ remains. For those who belong to Him, leaving this world means being welcomed into His eternal embrace.
May this song bring peace to grieving hearts, comfort to families, and quiet hope to anyone who needs to remember that in Jesus, goodbye is not forever. One day, we will be with the Lord, and in His love, we will truly be home.
John 14:2–3
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am.”
Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
2 Timothy 4:7
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Corinthians 5:1
“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”
Philippians 1:23
“I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13–14
“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again.”
1 Thessalonians 4:17–18
“And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

Quietly I watch the stars above,
Listening as the moments pass.
All my life is moving through my mind,
All the joy, the tears, the things I had.
I remember running when I was young,
I remember how You led me through.
Now my work on earth is nearly done,
Jesus, I can hear You calling me.
Mm~ You are calling me.
I have fought the good fight by Your grace,
I have almost finished my race.
What is ahead is not the dark,
It is the home You prepared for me.
I am going home, into Your arms,
Jesus, You are coming for me.
You will wipe away my tears,
No more pain, no more loneliness.
I am going home, to see Your smile,
Your open arms are welcoming me.
Like a child I run to You,
In Your love I find my rest.
Mm~ I find my rest,
Mm~ I find my joy.
I can see my little childhood self,
Running through the light to You.
You bend down and hold me close,
Looking at me with Your tender love.
I can hear the songs of heaven rise,
No more tears and no more sighs.
Death can never steal my hope,
For now I am with my Lord.
Mm~ With my Lord.
This earthly tent is fading now,
But heaven’s home is shining bright.
I am not leaving all alone,
You take my hand and lead me into light.
I am going home, into Your arms,
Jesus, You are coming for me.
You will wipe away my tears,
No more pain, no more loneliness.
I am going home, to see Your smile,
Your open arms are welcoming me.
Like a child I run to You,
In Your love I find my rest.
Mm~ I find my rest,
Mm~ I find my joy.
Please don’t weep for me without hope,
I am only going first to Him.
In eternity we still believe,
One day we will meet again.
Remember what the Lord has promised,
He has gone to make a place for us.
He will come and bring us home,
We will dwell with Him forever.
Mm~ Forevermore.
I am going home, into Your arms,
Jesus, You are coming for me.
You will wipe away my tears,
No more pain, no more loneliness.
I am going home, to see Your smile,
Your open arms are welcoming me.
Like a child I run to You,
In Your love I find my rest.
Mm~ I find my rest,
Mm~ I find my joy.
The road home is not far away,
Your grace will lead me all the way.
The road home is not far away,
Lord, You are coming to take me home.
Mm~ I’m going home, going home,
Into Your everlasting love.
Mm~ I’m going home, going home…
Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope we have in Jesus. Thank You that this life is not all there is, and that for those who belong to You, the road ahead is not darkness but home. When we think about sickness, aging, grief, and goodbye, our hearts can feel weak and heavy, but Your promise gives us peace: Jesus has prepared a place for us, and one day He will bring us safely into His presence.
Lord, comfort every person who is walking through a season of pain, waiting, or farewell. Be near to those lying in hospital beds, those facing the final part of their earthly journey, and those who love them deeply. Let them feel that they are not alone. Hold their hands, quiet their fears, and remind them that Your love is stronger than death.
Please also comfort the families who are grieving or preparing to say goodbye. Give them courage for today, peace for the night, and hope for the days ahead. Help them remember that in Christ, goodbye is not forever. One day, You will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, and no more pain.
Teach us to live our remaining days with faith, love, and gratitude. Help us cherish the people around us, hold tightly to Your promises, and trust Your grace until the very end. And when our journey on earth is finished, may we come home to You with peace, welcomed by Jesus into everlasting love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Going Home | Jesus Is Coming for Me | A Christian Song of Heaven, Hope, and Comfort
“Going Home” is a Christian worship song about heaven, eternal hope, and the gentle promise of Jesus welcoming His people home. It was written for those who are walking through sickness, aging, grief, or the final season of life, and also for families who are standing beside a loved one with tears, love, and many unspoken goodbyes.
This song reminds us that, in Christ, death is not the end of hope. For believers, the road ahead is not darkness, but the Father’s house prepared by Jesus. The lyrics look back on a life filled with joy, tears, memories, and grace, while looking forward to the moment when Jesus personally comes near, opens His arms, wipes away every tear, and leads His child into eternal rest.
“Going Home” is especially meaningful for times of prayer, memorial reflection, hospice comfort, funeral services, or quiet moments with family. It carries the promise of John 14, where Jesus says He goes to prepare a place for us, and the hope of Revelation 21, where God will wipe away every tear and there will be no more death, pain, sorrow, or crying.
May this song bring peace to those who are grieving, courage to those who are nearing the end of their earthly journey, and comfort to every family who needs to remember: in Jesus, goodbye is not forever. One day, we will be with the Lord, and in His love, we will truly be home.
