“Here I Am, Send Me” is an original Christian worship song inspired by Isaiah 6:8, centered on God’s holiness, cleansing grace, surrender, calling, and the willing response, “I am willing.” From feeling unworthy and weak to placing our lives in God’s hands, this Scripture-based worship song is ideal for prayer, devotion, quiet worship, missions, ministry, and responding to God’s call.
“Here I Am, Send Me” is an original Christian worship song inspired by Isaiah 6, especially the powerful calling recorded in Isaiah 6:8:
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”
Isaiah answered:
“Here am I; send me.”
Before Isaiah could give that courageous response, however, he first encountered the overwhelming holiness of God. He saw the Lord seated high upon the throne and heard the angels crying, “Holy, holy, holy.” In the light of God’s glory, Isaiah became deeply aware of his own sin and confessed that he was a man of unclean lips.
Yet God did not reject him because of his unworthiness. A burning coal from the altar touched Isaiah’s lips, his guilt was taken away, and his sin was forgiven. He was not called because he was already perfect, strong, or fully prepared. He was cleansed by grace, and then he was invited to respond.
This is the heart of the song: the journey from “I am unworthy” to “I am willing.”
Many of us hesitate when we sense God calling us. We may feel too weak, too broken, too ordinary, or too unqualified to be used by Him. We may focus on what we lack and wonder whether someone else would be better suited for the task. But God’s calling does not begin with our strength. It begins with His grace and with a heart that is willing to be placed in His hands.
The words “I am willing” are therefore one of the central messages of this song. They are not a claim that we have no fear or weakness. Instead, they are a prayer of surrender:
“I may not have enough strength.
I may not know what lies ahead.
But I am willing to trust You.
Here I am, send me.”
The first two verses follow Isaiah’s experience of seeing God’s holiness, recognizing his own uncleanness, receiving forgiveness, and hearing God’s call. The third verse brings that calling into our everyday lives. God may not send every believer to a distant country, but He calls each of us to live faithfully where we are.
He may send us to comfort someone who is hurting, strengthen someone who is discouraged, forgive someone who has wounded us, serve without recognition, share the gospel, or reflect the love of Christ within our families, churches, workplaces, and communities. Even the quiet and ordinary parts of life can become places of holy calling.
The bridge—“Cleanse my mouth, cleanse my heart, cleanse my hands, cleanse my feet”—is a prayer of complete surrender. We ask God to purify our words so they bring grace instead of harm, cleanse our hearts from bitterness and pride, use our hands to serve, and guide our feet along the path He has prepared.
Musically, this version carries an intimate and vulnerable atmosphere. The close-mic, husky male vocal has a weary and weathered quality, expressing the honesty of someone who knows his weakness but still chooses to respond. Gentle female harmonies, rich choir vocals, oud-led instrumentation, and light acoustic guitar gradually lift the song from quiet confession into a strong declaration of surrender.
“Here I Am, Send Me” is written for those who are seeking God’s direction, wrestling with feelings of unworthiness, responding to a call to ministry or mission, or simply learning to obey God in everyday life.
May this song remind us that God is able to use what we place in His hands. Our weakness does not disqualify us, and our limitations do not prevent His purpose. What He desires is a heart that has been touched by grace and is willing to answer.
When God asks, “Who will go for us?” may we respond with faith:
“I am unworthy, yet You cleanse me.
I am weak, but I place myself in Your hands.
I am willing.
Here I am, send me.”
“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
And one cried unto another, and said,
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”
“Then said I,
Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips:
for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
“Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
And he laid it upon my mouth, and said,
Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.”
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,
Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
Then said I,
Here am I; send me.”

Verse 1
I saw the Lord seated high upon the throne,
Angels cried, “Holy, holy.”
The glory of the Lord filled all the earth,
And I said, “I am a man of unclean lips,
Yet my eyes have seen the King.”
Oh—Your glory fills the earth,
Oh—I have seen the King.
Here before Your holiness,
I see the stains within my soul;
I have nothing I can bring,
So I bow before Your throne.
Chorus
I am unworthy, yet You cleanse me;
I am weak, but I place myself in Your hands.
I have no strength, I have no power,
But if You call me, I will follow You.
I am willing, I will answer Your voice,
I am willing, lead me into Your will.
When You ask, “Who will go for Us?”
Here I am, send me.
Verse 2
Then an angel came and stood before me,
With a burning coal from the altar’s flame.
He touched the lips that were unclean,
And my guilt was taken, my sin forgiven.
Oh—You have taken my sin,
Oh—You have washed me clean.
You are the One who cleanses me,
You are the One who calls again;
Once I only saw my shame,
Now I live to bear Your name.
Chorus
I am unworthy, yet You cleanse me;
I am weak, but I place myself in Your hands.
I have no strength, I have no power,
But if You call me, I will follow You.
I am willing, I will answer Your voice,
I am willing, lead me into Your will.
When You ask, “Who will go for Us?”
Here I am, send me.
Verse 3
Still today, You gently call my name,
In every ordinary morning.
Maybe not to some distant land,
But right beside me, to live as Your witness.
Oh—You are still calling,
Oh—in every morning.
Cleanse every word inside my mouth,
No more complaining, no more wounding hearts;
Take the bitterness and pride I hide,
Let my life become a voice of grace.
Pre-Chorus 3
Even when I cannot see the road,
Even when fear is in my heart;
I place my limits in Your hands,
And trust that You will lead me on.
Chorus
I am unworthy, yet You cleanse me;
I am weak, but I place myself in Your hands.
I have no strength, I have no power,
But if You call me, I will follow You.
I am willing, I will answer Your voice,
I am willing, lead me into Your will.
When You ask, “Who will go for Us?”
Here I am, send me.
Bridge
Cleanse my mouth, let me speak of You;
Cleanse my heart, let me love only You.
Cleanse my hands, let me serve You, Lord;
Cleanse my feet, let me walk where You lead.
Not by my strength, not by my power,
But by Your Spirit moving in me;
On the mountain, in the valley,
Let my whole life answer You.
Bridge 2
If You send me to comfort, I am willing;
If You send me to strengthen, I am willing;
If You send me to forgive, I am willing;
If You send me to proclaim, I am willing.
Whether far away, or right here where I stand,
Whether I am seen, or no one understands;
Let every day, in ordinary life,
Be my willing heart responding to You.
Final Chorus
I am unworthy, yet You cleanse me;
I am weak, but Your grace makes me stand.
All my limits, I lay in Your hands,
Use my life to fulfill Your will.
I am willing, I will answer Your voice,
I am willing, all my life within Your will.
When You ask again, “Who will go for Us?”
Here I am, send me.
Here I am, send me,
Here I am, send me.
Wherever You call me, wherever You lead,
Here I am, send me.
Outro
Holy, holy, holy,
All the earth is filled with Your glory.
I am unworthy, yet You have called me—
Here I am, send me.
Holy and gracious Father, thank You for bringing us once again before Your presence through this song. You are holy, worthy, and full of glory. Like Isaiah, when we stand before Your holiness, we become aware of our weakness, our sin, and our need for Your mercy. We confess that our hearts are not always clean, our words are not always pleasing to You, and our lives are not always fully surrendered.
Yet we thank You that You do not turn away from us in our unworthiness. You come near with grace. You cleanse, forgive, restore, and call us again. Thank You for the mercy that takes away guilt, for the grace that lifts up the broken, and for the love that still invites us to be used by You.
Lord, cleanse our lips. Teach us to speak words that bring life instead of harm, encouragement instead of complaint, truth instead of emptiness, and grace instead of bitterness. Cleanse our hearts from pride, fear, selfishness, and hidden sin. Give us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us.
We admit that we are weak. We do not always feel ready. We do not always know where You are leading. Sometimes we are afraid of what obedience may cost. But today, we place ourselves in Your hands. We bring You our limited strength, our imperfect faith, our unfinished story, and our willing heart.
When You ask, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” help us not to look only at what we lack. Help us to trust Your grace more than our weakness, Your power more than our ability, and Your calling more than our fear.
Use our mouths to speak of Your goodness. Use our hands to serve those in need. Use our feet to walk where You lead. Use our lives to reflect the love of Christ in our homes, churches, workplaces, and communities.
Send us to comfort the hurting, strengthen the weary, forgive where forgiveness is needed, serve where no one may notice, and share the hope of the gospel with courage and humility. Whether You call us far away or ask us to be faithful right where we are, give us a heart that says yes to You.
Father, we also pray for those around us who feel unworthy, weak, or unsure of their purpose. Let them know that their weakness does not disqualify them from Your grace. Touch them, cleanse them, restore them, and help them hear Your voice calling them into Your will.
We pray for the world around us, full of brokenness, confusion, loneliness, and pain. Raise up people who are willing to carry Your love, peace, truth, and gospel into dark places. Let Your church not only sing about surrender, but live it with courage and compassion.
Here we are, Lord. Cleanse us, lead us, and use us. We are unworthy, yet You have called us. We are weak, yet Your grace is enough.
We are willing.
Here we are, send us.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
